PT PLN (Persero) is making efforts to establish international partnerships to support the Government’s initiative in energy transition in Indonesia. This was evident at the opening of the Electricity Connect 2024 event held at the Jakarta Convention Center on Wednesday (20/11).
At the largest electricity conference and exhibition in Southeast Asia initiated by the Indonesian Electricity Society (MKI), Hashim Djojohadikusumo, the Special Envoy of the President of the Republic of Indonesia for Energy and the Environment, stated that under the leadership of President Prabowo Subianto, Indonesia is committed to transitioning from fossil fuel-based energy to utilizing Renewable Energy (EBT) to drive national economic growth.
Hashim added that by 2040, Indonesia plans to increase its electricity generation capacity to 100 Gigawatts (GW), with 75% from renewable sources, 5 GW from nuclear, and the rest from gas.
“Energy transition is not just about reducing greenhouse gas emissions, but also about creating a balance between economic growth and environmental sustainability. We are committed to providing clean, environmentally friendly, and affordable energy, while still promoting economic growth up to 8%,” Hashim said.
